Sewer Line Repair vs. Replacement: How to Decide
Once the camera shows damage, homeowners face three paths. Here’s how we help Marlborough customers choose.
Choose spot repair when…
One defect — a single cracked section or offset joint — in an otherwise sound line. Cost: $500–$2,500. Fast, surgical, sensible.
Choose lining when…
Multiple defects spread along the run, but the pipe still holds its shape and slope. Lining at $80–$250 per foot renews the whole line without digging.
Choose replacement when…
The pipe has collapsed, lost its slope, or is Orangeburg disintegrating along its length. Replacement at $3,000–$12,000 is the only durable answer — anything else is money spent twice.
The rule of thumb
If the repair costs more than half of replacement and the pipe is past 75% of its lifespan, replace. If the pipe is fundamentally sound with localized damage, repair. The camera footage makes the call obvious — which is why we never quote without it. Call (833) 713-2101 for an inspection and an honest recommendation.
